Laser Fleet Nears Record

Doug Carlson is leading a large group of Laser sailors that can qualify for an award in 2011. Currently 14 sailors have sailed enough races with several more poised to get enough races in to add to the list.

However, the number of races needed is a moving target because it is 50 percent of the races sailed. So far, 39 races have been sailed. But, with two weeks to go, assuming four races are sailed each Wednesday, the season will include 47 races and the number to qualify will be 23.

Thirteen sailors are already at 23 races or more, with two more capable of getting to that number.
