Help EJ O'Mara Get to the Olympics
Tom LaBelle, multi-year winner of the Lake Lansing Laser Regatta, is asking LSC members to join in EJ O"Mara's Olympic initiative. Contributions should be made out to "Lake Fenton Junior Sailing Program" with a notation "EJ Olympics" on the check. Send the check to:

Friends: I want to thank you for allowing me the opportunity to come to Lansing, and for giving me the time, to discuss EJ O'Mara's Olympic initiative in the Laser Class. I'd like and ask that our Laser District become a key financial supporter of his effort. Having the ability to train and compete with the best in the world is a crucial path towards advancing to the top of the Laser class, and significant travel and funding is required. The two uses of contributions are travel related expenses (airfare, housing, food, gas), and sailing related expenses, (leasing boats during International Regattas, purchasing new sails, updating rigging, entry fees, etc). The approach that I'm taking is a direct one with fleets and individuals within our fleets, for contributions towards his effort. EJ, is maintaining a blog which has several current updates on his trip to the Jr. World Championships in La Rochelle, France. The blog can be accessed through the Lake Fenton Sailing Club web site, and I encourage you to visit this site and his blog. Prior activities are also highlighted, such as his recent training in Texas, the Atlantic Coast Championship in North Carolina, and the OCR in Miami, Fl. http://sites.google.com/site/lakefentonsailingclub/ The Lake Fenton Sailing Club has establshed a 501C Non-Profit Organization, called the Lake Fenton Jr. Sailing Program whereby contributions made are tax deductible, and contributions made with a notation to EJ O'Mara on the check, will be fully directed towards EJ. Checks can be sent directly to Lake Fenton or alternatively, to me, and I will forward, these onto Lake Fenton. Both addresses are listed below. If a contribution is sent directly to Lake Fenton, please let me know. I'll be asking EJ to follow-up with a note directly to you. As mentioned last night, and earlier in my e-mail, I'd like our Laser group to become a significant contributor towards EJ's effort moving forward. The Laser class has been a tremendous experience for me personally and becoming a supporter, is a way to give back to a class that has been very special.
