The day began early at LSC with Channel 6 News doing live interviews and reports. Reporter Mona Shand interviewed LSC's Ann Siegle aboard "Wind Dancer". Three young sailors were among the first "tourists" to get a free sailboat ride.

Soon there was a line waiting for rides. Ann Siegle rounded up another couple of volunteer skippers so that more boats could be giving rides.

Two of these boats have passengers on board and are ready to go. Crew for the third boat are on their way down the dock to get on board.

When we had experienced sailors on board, we gave them the tiller.

Blaine Severin is ready to leave the dock with his new crew on board "Flying Pigasus".

This young sailor was taking it all in. Tourists were coming and going as well as Sunfish sailors participating in a Regatta on Lake Lansing.

Terry Kleiman skippers "Oh m" with a crew of hardy sailors aboard.

Merrick Hurlbutt brings a group back to the dock after a short cruise.

Merrick is on his way again with a full boatload.

Watch that boom! "Wind Dancer" crew members look out for a boom that became centered over the boat during a wind shift. Doug Carlson takes charge of keeping the boat close to make embarking and debarking easier.

LSC had a great time participating in this event - and it looked like there were a lot of smiles on our "tourist" guests too.

With an hour to go on "Be a Tourist" day, dark skies and lightning drove the boats off the water - with about fifty tourists getting rain checks as a storm went through.

Afterward, Ann Siegle debriefs (clockwise) Blaine Severin, Terry Kleiman and Mike Moody - three of the LSC skippers who donated their time and boats for "Be a Tourist" day at the Lansing Sailing Club.
