Picnicers began gathering a little before noon to fire up the charcoal and get set up. LSC provided brats/franks and soft drinks. Everyone brought a dish to pass - and we fared well as usual.

Paul Marttila called home and persuaded Nancy to take a break from preparing to go on vacation and join him. Sid Mook sailed his boat over. Walt Degruyter came in his pontoon.

The Middlewoods joined in. Brianna and Miranda played their first bocce ball - coming back against an experienced duo of boys from down 14-4 to challenge and make them nervous - but the lead was a little too large to overcome.

After the picnic, Rear Commodore enlisted the help of those present to clean up a couple of dock problems - then most of the group went on the water to challenge the clock in a "Mystery Time Regatta". Loeschers went in their Pointe Jude.

Sid Mook showed he can still sail his Laser with the best of the bunch. Caught in a big gust, his boat capsized, but he was quickly over the side and on the centerboard to get the boat back up and sailing.

"No problem" signals Sid after getting his boat righted and on its way again.

New member Matt Allswede was on the water in his Hobie Getaway.

The Vietti's, sailing "Baca" won the competition - and get their boat cleaned as first prize.

Results of Mystery Time Regatta

Each team predicted the time (between 20 minutes and 50 minutes) they would be sailing. To this time is to be added a mystery time between 1 and 12 minutes. The mystery time was not known to the sailors until after the regatta and was picked at random by the Regatta Organizer's crew to be 8 minutes. Each team is on it's honor not to use a clock or watch or timer (sundials were judged to be ok). The difference between the Time Sailing plus the Mystery Time and the Actual Time Sailing is the team score. Low score wins. The prize is a boat cleaning - won by Vietti's.
