"Crew Takes the Helm" - July 21, 2005

Walter and Antje Benenson gave their Thursday evening to serve on the Race Committee. Here they pose on the Committee Boat as the boats sail downwind toward the finish. Keeping up with a shifting wind was quite a challenge.

In the first race, "Unidentified Flying Pigasus" had come from behind to draw even and then ahead of "Shibumi" - but on gybing just before the finish weren't able to make the mark. Tom Rasmussen ends up holding off the "UFP" crew. Larry Koster and Gary Marx are crewing for Tom..

Susanna Tellschow had expected to sail aboard "Wind Dancer" - bust was held up and got to the Club late. Fortunately, Mike Moody and Ann Baker were looking for a driver. Susanna was up to the task and finished second in her turn at the helm.

Julie Pierce had the boat moving very well in the second race. Here she leads the fleet around the leeward mark and charges back upwind. With Blaine and Geoff Severin handling the crewing, Julie won race two.

Gary Marx took his turn driving "Shibumi" and put in a solid performance. Flying their spinnaker well, they came close to catching "Wind Dancer" on the final leg.

Bob Miller had a steady hand on the tiller of "Wind Dancer" - and turned in a winning performance in the first race. Terry Kleiman crewed for Bob.
