Ron Marshall, Jane Marshall and Bob Hill work the infamous "Oh m" to windward in the picture to the right with their wind sock flying.
Meanwhile, John LeFevre raced his new boat (shown below) for the first time. Daughter Michelle was middle crew while Shelly Kindig crewed in the front of the boat. They got the boat sailing better and better all day - leading to the windward mark in the last race.
Below and to the right, Merrick Hurlbutt and Scott Watkins hold off a charging "Shibumi" on a downwind leg. Merrick and Scott sailed well all day and won the third race.

Despite warnings of rain and high winds, it was a beautiful autumn day on Lake Lansing with a moderate breeze. Six Lightnings came out to race. Pat Dolan, Gil Chesbro and Bob Miller sailed Wind Dancer to a first place finish in race one.
Mike Moody and Ken Knight served as Race Committee and, with wind from the west, were able to use almost the entire lake in setting a long course.

| An aggressive spinnaker set by "Hen Pecked" |
Above, they are working hard to catch up with an aggressive spinnaker set as they round the weather mark while the "Wind Dancer" is having trouble getting their kite to fill. Left, the "Hen Pecked" crew has their boat going fast to windward with great balance as Lori and Terry sit on the high side and Lisa trims from the leeward side.
"Shibumi" was sailed by Larry Koster, Tom Rasmussen and Bob Brook to a second place finish in race 1, a fourth in race 2 and a third in race 3. In the picture top the left they show their colors and fine form.
