Help Us Get the Word Out to Give the Gift of Sailing

This Holiday Season Give the Gift of Sailing

Requests for 2008 Race Committee Sign-up will begin after the first of the year.


With the holidays coming up, and people looking for special gifts to give. What could be better than the gift of Sailing.

Please help us get the word out about this great opportunity. There are two main ways to do this: First, tell your friends and colleagues. Second, post flyers on bulletin boards at work, at church and in other locations.

Go to the Lansing Sailing Club website and download our "Give the Gift of Sailing" flyer. Then print off a few copies and post them or pass them around.

To give the gift of sailing costs $150. Fill out the form in the flyer and send it, along with a check or money order, to the Lansing Sailing Club. There is even a gift card as part of the flyer.

Included in this gift are sailing lessons, use of Club Sailboats as well as participation in moonlight sails, Club picnics and other events and activities.

 

 

Still Time to Let Commodore Know of Deck Duty Preferences

A list of deck duties for 2008 is posted on the Lansing Sailing Club website. Members still have time to select one they prefer before they are arbitrarily assigned. Click Here to see the list.

Each Lansing Sailing Club member helps keep the Club going by contributing their time in four ways: Docks-In, Docks-Out, serving on a Race Committee and performing a Deck Duty. Usually a deck duty involves serving on one of the LSC "teams" and helping with the work of the team.

Thinking About a Boat?

Although the next sailing season is a few months away, some of you may be thinking about getting a sailboat - or know someone who has a yen to get out on the water.

Avon Sailboats has two used Sunfish for sale, a white one with a blue deck for $1,100 and a cream colored one for $1,700. Both include new sails. Contact them at 248-852-2211. The Lightning Association has a number of Lightnings listed for sail at a range of prices at www.lightningclass.org/classifieds/CurrentSystem/Boats.htm.

Barrels Still Available



One of the green barrels for sale

Although we have sold some of the excess 55 gallon barrels left over from the old main dock, there are still barrels available.

Some examples of what these barrels could be used for include:
* Rain Barrels
* Trash Containers for the Garage or Shop
* Stands for plants on the deck
* Container gardening

The cost is $15 each or four for $50 or eight for $90. Half off for Lansing Sailing Club members.

These barrels are listed on Craigslist, so if you want any be sure to act now. First come, first served. All the black barrels are gone, but a few white barrels remain and there are plenty of green barrels to choose from.
