Docks In a Success - Lightning Racing Starts this Sunday (April 22nd)

Lightning Racing
Begins Sunday
Skippers Mtg 12:30
First Race 1:00 pm

April 22: Jim Fletcher and Wayne Loescher
April 29: Blaine Severin and Elias Strangas

Bill and Sally Pratt start removing the cover on their boat.
Paul Marttila finishes up raking in that area.

John LeFevre and Chris Strugar-Fritsch relax
after finishing their Docks-In assignments.

The docks are in! The grounds are clear of leaves and debris. Our clubhouse is clean, the water turned on and hot water running.

In short, we are ready for sailing.

And, just in time, the weather is turning warm with temps forecast in the upper 60s for the weekend.

Lightning racing begins this coming Sunday. As usual, the skippers meeting will be at 12:30 with the first of three races set to begin at 1:00.

Come out and sail.

By the way, pictures from Docks-In have found their way to the LSC web site. Go go www.lansingsailing.org and click on the Docks-In picture.

Get Those Lightnings Ready for Sunday

Fleet Captain Severin's boat "UFP"
charges to windward last September

This Sunday is the start of Lightning racing at the Lansing Sailing Club. Time for all the Lightning skippers to get their boats ready for action and crew lined up.

The format for races in 2007 will again following the pattern established several years ago. Three races will be held each race day, wind and weather conditions permitting. The first race is scheduled for 1 pm on Sunday race days with the second race to immediately follow. At the Skipper's meeting, sailors will determine whether they wish to have a break between races two and three or to sail the races back to back to back.

Unless there is a different agreement at the Skippers meeting, the course to be sailed for all races is a windward-leeward course. For the final race, the finish will be on a windward leg where possible. At the Race Committee's discretion, other races can conclude with a windward leg, but a leeward leg finish should be expected when the next race is to begin immediately.
