Work Party Wednesday

Members who can participate in a work party Wednesday from 6 pm until dusk are asked to show up at the Club House. We've got a lift to move, a lot of old dock sections to dismantle and ship off to the transfer station, and a list of other items that need attention.

On a beautiful September day, Mike Moody took early leads in all three races and turned one into a win. "Wind Dancer" came from behind to win the other two races.

Chris Miller continued her record of one win and one loss on each of the three Sundays she has been at the helm of "Wind Dancer". Pat Dolan was at the helm in the third race as "Wind Dancer" came from behind again to win.

Mike Moody had two new faces aboard "Moody's Booty". Casey Ray and Kristen Etchebarne crewed for MIke. Casey is Commodore of the MSU Sailing Club and won the collegiate division of Saturday's Spartan Singles Regatta. In addition to his race one win, Mike and crew were third in the other two contests.

Scott Watkins sailed the Hurlbutt boat and he brought along a colleague from work, Kenan Cosguner, to join Adrianne Tuttle in the crew. Scott sailed well and finished third int he first race.

The "Bananas" crew was filled out today by Bob HIll as he joined Jim and Maribeth Fletcher. They missed the first race, but sailed solidly in the remaining two races, finishing second.

Other new faces included Michael-Salomon Jost who sailed with Larry Koster and Tom Rasmussen aboard "Shibumi" and Rich Manner who sailed with Susanna Tellschow and Bob Miller on "Oh m".

A picture story can be found on the Lansing Sailing Club web site by going to the "Pictures" section. In addition, the "Racing" page has a link to Lightning Fleet results and standings.

Savage Wins Spartan Singles

Joanne Princinsky volunteered to help out on the Race Committee for Spartain Singles Saturday

A high school sophomore from Grosse Pointe won this year's Spartan Singles Laser Regatta. Brady Savage was surrounded by veteran Laser sailors and MSU's best single-handed sailors. However, they didn't intimidate him as he converted three firsts, a second, a fourth and a tenth into a first place trophy.

Mike Moody of the Lansing Sailing Club finished second, one point behind. Brady's dad, Leigh Savage, was third.

Among the college sailors, Casey Ray was the highest finisher, followed one point behind by Mills Forni. Third place in that division went to Rob Linden.

Complete results and standings for the Regatta can be found at the Lansing Sailing Club web site.
