Six Lightning crews came out to enjoy a beautiful summer day of racing. The wind was light and variable, but three races were completed. Pat Dolan, Chris Miller and Gil Chesbro won the first two races sailing "Wind Dancer". Mike Moody, Jamie Rasmussen and Jennifer McKervey sailed "Moody's Booty" to a third race win.
Jim Fletcher put on a strong performance in the first race, challenging for the lead - and coming in hot to the finish to almost score a win. Maribeth Fletcher and new member Coleman Baar were aboard "Bananas" with Jim.
Merrick Hurlbutt, Scott Watkins and Adrianne Tuttle had a good day with a third in race one and a second in race two. Neil Harrison sailed an excellent second race with support from crew Alanna Harvey and John Quensen - ending up third.
Complete results and standings can be found on the racing page of the LSC web site at www.lansingsailing.org along with a picture story (coming soon).

Among the nuggets found is the helpful phrase "POWs Never Have Rights" - meaning that boats on Port tack, Overtaking boats and Windward boats must stay clear.

Luna Rossa Wins Act 5 |

Act 5 of the America's Cup concluded in Valencia with the Italian "Luna Rossa" team winning the fleet racing event. Acts 6 and 7 will be in Sweden at the end of August. The Swedes had won Act 5 on the water - but had points taken away when a protest against carrying excess water on-board was upheld.
