MSU

Memorial Championship

The MSU Sailing Team placed
third over the weekend in the Midwest Collegiate Sailing
Association's east area qualifier at Hope College. This means
they will go on to race in the 58th Timmie Angston Memorial
to be held at the Chicago Yacht Club on November 26-28. The top
four teams from the MCSA's east and west areas make up the
eight teams which sail at "Timmies".
For Michigan State, Rob Linden
and Casey Ray skippered the "A" division boat with Meghan Walter
crewing. They finished fifth in their division, going 3-3-5-7-2-3-7-8-3-5-7
and 53 points. The "B" division
boat was sailed by Mary Vorel with Steve Griffith crewing. Mary
and Steve finished second in their division with 45 points from
5-4-3-1-6-3-2-2-7-3-9 finishes. Michigan won the event with 49

LSC
Team Goes to Bluenose |
"Wind Dancer" crew in action at windward
mark |
Pat Dolan, Mike Moody and Susanna
Tellschow took "Wind Dancer" to Nashville, Tennessee last weekend
for their annual "Bluenose" Regatta. Contrary to several past
years, there was wind for this Regatta - although the sailors
found it challenging to anticipate velocity and shifts.
The highlight of the regatta
for this LSC team was a second place finish in one of the races.
Thirty-eight boats participated. "Wind Dancer" finished 18th.
The Regatta was won by Tom Allen, Jr. of the Allen Boat Company,
one of the manufacturers of Lightning Sailboats.
Results, history of past regattas,
pictures and more for the "Bluenose"
can be found on the web at http://hiyc.org/bluenose.html. |
