Docks
are Out |
Doug Carlson and Gil Chesbro |
It has been a terrific sailing
season, but it now comes to an end. The docks came out Saturday,
October 16th - and in record time.
Thanks to Rear Commodore Wayne
Loescher's outstanding organization and leadership as well as
the cooperation of members, Docks Out was completed in record
time. By 9:20, all the Docks were out and neatly stacked - and
the grounds raked. Wayne sends his thanks to everyone for such
an outstanding job.
There is more of the Docks
Out story and pictures on the home page of the LSC web site at

Last
Sail of the Year?
|
Susanna dressed for cool temps on the water |
On Friday (Oct 22nd), Susanna
Tellschow took what might be the final sail of the year. The weather was
mild - but the water temperature is getting cold.
There was a nice breeze and
autumn colors at their height - providing just the right backdrop
for a few last minutes on the water.
Mike Moody and Pat Dolan launched
the Dolan pontoon boat to take the cover off the safety boat
lift - so they were available "just in case".
After seeing over Susanna's
sail, the Dolan pontoon went on to Wilson Marine for winterizing
and storage.

How
to See Sail Shape - Tip from Steve Colgate |
Steve Colgate |
"How to See Sail Shape" is
Sailing Tip # 51 from Steve Colgate. It is the fifth in a series
on Sail Shape. Steve and Doris Colgate own and operate the Offshore
Sailing School where many Lansing Sailing Club members have taken
classes.
In this tip, Colgate talks
about visual aids to help see sail shape, checking mast bend,
measuring twist, marking back stays, jib halyard tension and
other jib markings.
Colgate goes on to discuss
side by side testing to see what shapes are fastest.
This tip can be found on the
web at www.offshore-sailing.com/nb/gn/sailtip51.htm. |
