No
Wind This Time - Only One More Wednesday Left |
|
We
postponed for 30 minutes, hoping the weather systems on either
side would bring some wind. However, the water was still glassy
- so the sailors made their way to Spagnoula's early.
There is only one
more Wednesday evening of sailing. Remember we start the racing
a half hour earlier than usual - at 6 pm.
Detailed results
and standings are available through links on the Racing page
of the LSC web site at www.lansingsailing.org. |

In the revamped America's Cup
format, there is racing at various venues each year leading up
to the cup. "Act 1", as the America's Cup Management group calls
it, begins this coming Sunday in Marseille, France. The boats
are currently practicing and will participate in a fleet parade
and opening ceremony Saturday. The French race commentary will
be webcast on www.americascup.com for those interested listeners who can't
make it to Marseille. Highlight quotes from the sailors will be posted
as audio files on each language section of the website each day after
racing.
The America's Cup website will
also include a live 2D race tracker to follow the fleet races
and each of the match race contests, showing current leader and distance
ahead, wind speed, what leg of the race the boats are on, the elapsed
time, deltas at marks, and the gain or loss on each leg.
Six teams are participating
in Act 1 including K-Challenge where MSU grad Dawn Riley is
the General Manager. Act 1 features three days of fleet racing
on September 5th, 6th and 7th. This will be followed by three
days of match racing on September 9th, 10th and 11th. The boats
are then transported to Valencia, Spain for Act 2
October 4-12. Act 3 will be held October 14-17, also at Valencia.
