Laser-Sunfish
Clinic a Success |
Eleven
sailors took advantage of the 2004 Laser-Sunfish Clinic
featuring World Champion sailor Derrick Fries. With winds cooperating,
Derrick and LSC Commodore Mike Moody put the sailors through
a series of drills and races - coaching constantly to help each
participant improve.
Mike took video
of each sailor for debriefing purposes. In addition, Mike got
video of Derrick demonstrating roll tacks, roll gybes and other
techniques so that LSC members will have a resource they can
play back to refresh their memory of the coaching they received. |
"Wind
Dancer" Crew Takes Two of Three Lightning Races |
|
Gary Marx, Larry Koster and Bob Brook had smiles after racing Sunday |
Pat Dolan, Susanna
Tellschow and Gil Chesbro sailed "Wind Dancer" to a second
and two first place finishes in Lightning Racing Sunday. "Moody's
Booty", sailed by Mike Moody, Lisa Winters and Helio Vogel
took the other first place finish.
Larry Koster, sailing
with Bob Brook and Gary Marx, started slowly with a fourth
in the first race - but came on to take second place in races
two and three. Merrick Hurlbutt, with crew Scott Watkins and
Adrianne Tuttle, were third in the first race before fading
a little to take fifth in races two and three. Meanwhile, Neil
Harrison started slowly with a fifth in the first race, then
turned it on with the help of crew Julie Pierce and Alanna
Harvey to finish with thirds in the final two races..

Crew
Race Sailors Make Skippers Very Proud |
Ken, Lisa, Susanna, Bob and Tom |
Last
Thursday's crew racing made skippers very proud as each of the
crew who sailed demonstrated a lot of skill in the helm position.
Ken Knight drove "Moody's Booty" to two wins in the two races
he skippered. Susanna Tellschow skippered "Wind Dancer" to wins
in the other two races - but in each case the final result was
very close with the other boats putting a lot of pressure on
at the end. Bob Brook, Tom Rasmussen and Lisa Winters also drove
very impressively. Check out a picture story on this event by
going to the home page of the Lansing Sailing Club Web Site at

Delay
in Gear Order |
|
Those
of you who put in orders earlier this summer are probably wondering
what happened. Ann Siegle writes to let everyone know there
has been a glitch in preparing the LSC image because a font
needs to be recreated. Ann hopes the gear will arrive by mid-August.
More info as soon as the exact date of arrival is known.
