Lasers
Enjoy Wednesday Wind
Again |

Messerschmidt Nails Laser Start |
Sailors found Wednesday
evening to be another day with plenty of wind. Sailing has
been beautiful for almost all our racing in 2004.
Doug Carlson ran
off three wins and a second to lead the Laser Fleet. Mike
Moody took the other first place finish to go with three second
place finishes. Olav Messerschmidt and George Siegle split
the third place spots.
Mike Moody, Doug
Carlson and Olav Messerschmidt are now headed to the Great
Lakes Masters Championship this weekend in Milwaukee.

and standings are available through links on the Racing page

Sunfish Sailors Mix It Up |

Harrison Leads Fletcher Around Leeward Mark |
Three sunfish sailors
scored first place finishes in racing Wednesday, again showing
how competitive the fleet racing is. John Fishbeck managed
two first place finishes (1-4-1-2) while Dennis Dudley (4-1-4-3)
and Gil Chesbro (2-2-2-1) had one each.
Five of the seven
sailors finished in the top three in at least one race. In
addition to those mentioned above, Neil Harrison went 3-6-5-4
and Jim Fletcher -3-3-5 (he didn't sail the first race).

LSC
Sailors Return From Travels |
Bob Miller and Pat Dolan as "Wind Dancer" Heads
to the Race Course on Saginaw Bay - Photo by Susanna Tellschow |
Last weekend found
quite a few Lansing Sailing Club members travelling to regattas.
Pat Dolan, Bob Miller and Susanna Tellschow took "Wind Dancer"
to the Lightning District Championship at Bay City. "Bananas"
also participated in the Bay City Championship with Jim Fletcher,
Eddie Fletcher, and Larry Koster sailing the boat. Maribeth
Fletcher came to sail on Sunday, filling in for Eddie who had
to leave early.
Mike Moody and Olav
Messerschmidt went to St. Joseph to sail in their Laser
Regatta. Doug Carlson also found his way to St. Joseph, but
took his Grady-White and was a spectator.
The Lightning Championship
was sailed on Saginaw Bay where chop and wind conditions dominated
by thermals challenged the Lansing sailors who rarely
face those conditions. As a result, they often found themselves
struggling. Even so, they felt they were improving with each
race and had a great time.
A picture story
of the Lightning Championship participation by LSC sailors
is on the Club web site at www.lansingsailing.org. |

Olympic
Sailing to be on Bravo |
| Gary
Jobson reports that televised sailing coverage will appear on
the Bravo cable network. "In 2000 we had 80 minutes on CNBC,"
said Jobson. "This time there should be 6-8 hours of coverage
on Bravo. The plan is to feature one or two races each day, often
with on board cameras. The other classes will have some, but
not complete coverage. We will rotate featured classes every
day. Programming times coming soon." |
MacKenzie
Shows Off New Laser |
Dave in his new Laser |
A new laser showed up on the LSC grounds several days ago and
a number of members speculated on whose it could be.
The Mystery was
solved Wednesday when Dave
MacKenzie showed up to rig and sail his brand spanking new Laser. |
