Chesbro
on Roll |
Dave Vietti on His Sunfish |
On another beautiful
evening for sailing, Gil Chesbro chalked up four bullets in
Sunfish racing yesterday, adding to his early lead for the
season title. During the first race, it appeared that the wind
might die as it went away, then came back very lightly in a
180 degree shift. However, within a few minutes it filled back
in and the racers sailed in 8-10 mph winds the rest of the
evening.
Dave Vietti sailed
very consistently and ended up with two second place finishes
and two third place finishes. Dennis Dudley claimed a second,
third and two fourths. Neil Harrison had the remaining second
and third place finishs along with a fourth before capsizing
his boat in the final race. It was strange to see his centerboard
sticking straight up - but with the lake level high, it appears
that "turning turtle" is easy to do.

Doug
Carlson Gets New Laser Going |
Blaine Had His Boat Moving
Fast |
Doug Carlson showed
up with his new Laser and promptly reeled off three first place
finishes and a second to lead the Laser racers yesterday. Mike
Moody was giving Doug all he wanted in the way of competition
however - claiming the other first and three second place finishes.
George Siegle was pushing both of them throughout the evening
and ended up with four third place finishes.
Among the remaining
boats, Blaine Severin showed the way. He improved every race
and in the final came from two boat lengths behind on a short
last leg to catch the boat in front of him and register his
second fourth place finish of the night.
