Moonlight Sail Tomorrow (Friday the 13th)

Don't even hesitate. A big weekend of sailing at LSC begins with our first Moonlight Sail of 2003 - and it won't be put off by being on a Friday the 13th. We plan to enjoy the full moon. Bring a dessert to share at 8:00 PM. Soft drinks will be provided. We will have plenty of space on boats - sail and comfy pontoon - so come on out and enjoy the evening.

Laser Sailors Ready for Regatta this Saturday

Another event in a big weekend of sailing at LSC is Saturday's annual Lake Lansing Laser Regatta. Since this regatta is also the Laser District 19 (Michigan) Championship and the O'Day Single Handed Qualifier - we are looking for a good crowd. In addition to recognizing the top five finishers - we will be recognizing the top novice finisher and top collegiate finisher. A bonus for the winner of the O'Day Qualifier is a trip to the national single handed championship later this summer. Details are available on the Club web site at www.lansingsailing.org. Click on "Calendar", then on "Laser Regatta Info".

Fishbeck and Carlson Sweep on Beautiful Sailing Night

Thanks to all who came to race on yet another fabulous evening of sailing on Lake Lansing last night (Wednesday, June 11). Ten Laser sailors and six Sunfish sailors were on hand to enjoy it. John Fishbeck took all four Sunfish races in a field where all but one of the six competitors scored a third place or higher finish. Third place finishes were picked up by Neil Harrison and Maribeth Fletcher. Dave Vietti sailed well and ended up with two seconds and a third. Gil Chesbro scored two seconds and a third.

On the Laser side, Doug Carlson led the ten competitors with four wins. Mike Moody had three second place and one third place finish. Congratulations to Ken Knight who started slowly with an eighth - but then had a third, fifth and fourth. Pete Kuhn sailed with us for the first time, using our club Laser and a third place finish was his payoff for some solid sailing. Lori Katz capsized her boat after rounding the leeward mark in one race - but climbed right back in the boat and didn't lose any boats. Pat Dolan coached two races, but showed he can still sail the boat with a third and second place finish in the other two races. Chris Strugar-Fritsch had a very solid night with two fourth place finishes and two fifths. Bob Miller showed his stuff in the first race as he sailed to a fourth place finish.

Sunfish Regatta Saturday, June 21

It is time for the Sunfish sailors to finish getting their boats tuned and clean the bottom side so they are fast. Their annual Lake Lansing regatta is a week from this Saturday. Check out details on the LSC web site. Click on "Calendar" then on "Sunfish Regatta Info".
