We're Racing Again Wednesday Night - Ten Lasers Show Up

The temperature was just right tonight (Wednesday, May 28th) - low 70s. We could have used a little more wind - but there was enough, and it was terrific being on the water again. Thanks to the ten Laser sailors and one Sunfish sailor who participated.

We could also complain about weeds and having to clear our blades often. However, even as we raced, they were doing a chemical treatment that should take effect within a couple of days.

Doug Carlson was the big winner with two first place finishes. George Siegle took the other first place finish. Check out the web site at www.lansingsailing.org for more details.

We are very proud of Lori Katz who sailed for the first time in a Laser - and only began sailing about a month ago. Thanks for sailing with us Lori.

Meet Your Wednesday Race Committee

Mike Moody has interviewed candidates for Wednesday Race Committee and has arranged for Kim Harrison, Eddie Fletcher, Scott Fullbright and Cristy Miller to provide this service in 2003. Although each of them has vacation or other plans during the summer, Mike expects that at least one or two will be available every Wednesday.

Kim Harrison served on Wednesday Race Committee last year and showed the sailors how good she was from the very first night when those over early at the start were firmly called back.

Cristy Miller was Race Committee tonight, for the first time - and did a great job. We'll be seeing Eddie Fletcher and Scott Fullbright soon.

If you are a racer, be sure to sail by the Committee Boat and introduce yourself.

Final Discover Sailing for Adult Class Coming Monday

The final session of LSC's "Discover Sailing for Adults" will be next Monday. This is the first time LSC has offered a class for adults that are learning to sail - and the group has been excellent to work with. Terry Kleiman put together specific objectives for each class session, Jim Newtown took care of administrative arrangements and other members donated their time and boats for instruction.

Moody and Dolan at the Detroit NOOD

Mike Moody and Pat Dolan are headed to Lake St. Clair this weekend to sail in the Detroit National Offshore One Design (NOOD) Regatta. Hundreds of boats will race in more than 20 classes on two three different race courses. Moody and Dolan will be on the Tartan Ten "Tenacity" with her new owner Larry Petersen.

LSC Board Meeting June 1

The LSC Board will be meeting at Siegle's home this coming Sunday, June 1 from 7 PM to 8:30 PM. Information Board members have been gathering concerning possible expansion of the club will be shared. There are several options under review, including maintaining the status quo or purchasing additional property. The Board hopes to have sufficient data soon so that fully developed options can be available for review by members.
