Docks In Tomorrow

Don't forget that Docks In is tomorrow (Saturday, April 12th) from 9 AM to Noon. Docks In Assignments can be found in the April 4, 2003 e-Sheet. If you don't have your copy, you will find one in the archives section of the LSC web site.

Vacant Parking Spaces

There are some vacant parking spaces as a result of some members not renewing, or no longer keeping their boat on the property. Under LSC policy, members have the right to bid for open spots. Members interested in any of the following vacant places will have until the end of the day on Wednesday, April 16 to make their interest known by sending an email to Pat Dolan. If more than one person requests a particular space, the member with the greater number of continuous years of membership in the Lansing Sailing Club will be awarded the space.

The following spots are available for Lightning owners:
* 103 (Dudleys old spot)
* 111
* 112 (Dahlines old spot)
* 115 (Chronisters old spot)
* 117
* 120
* 121
* 124 (Not currently an easy spot to negotiate a boat into)

The following spots are available for Non-Fleet boat owners:
* 301
* 302 (Schopieray’s old spot)
* 309 (we will be removing the abandoned S-15 Sirroco)
* 313 (see note below)
* 314 (see note below)
* 315 (see note below)
* 316 (see note below)
NOTE: Although spaces 313 through 316 are available for non-fleet boats, we are avoiding actually using them unless absolutely necessary because having boats in these spaces makes accessing spaces 310, 311 and 312 difficult. Instead, while space exists in "Lightning Row", non-fleet boat owners assigned spaces 313 through 316 will be temporarily housed on Lightning Row.

No open rack or parking space is currently available for Sunfish or Laser owners.

Kinetics

There has been a lot of discussion at the national level recently about the use of kinetics - particularly in dinghies like Lasers and Sunfish. An interview with rules expert Dick Rose on this topic can be found at www.laser.org/c/cnt/down/Rule42articlefromWinter2003.pdf.

Rules Web Site Reorganization

ISAF has just launched a new Internet location for the Racing Rules of
Sailing (RRS). The RRS are now presented in a downloadable format, with
clear top level menus routing through to sub-menus and required information.

There have been changes to the RRS since first published in 2001 and all
changes are clearly detailed in a downloadable format for inclusion in your
rulebook. Standard documentation included within the Racing Rules, such as
Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions and Protest Forms are also accessible.

Look for the rules at www.sailing.org/rrs2001/.
