Do You Want to Crew in 2003?
With the start of racing just two short months away, many Lightning skippers are starting to think about crew for the 2003 season. Anyone interested in crewing should contact crew coordinator Pat Dolan so your name, phone number and email address can be made available to skippers needing crew. We are also planning a Crewing Seminar to be held on Saturday, April 26th from 1 PM to 4 PM. There will be two tracks to the Seminar. One will be for veterans who want a refresher and some new skills. The second track will be for individuals who have no crewing experience (or very little). This is a great way for someone who has no experience to find out if crewing is something they would like to do. More information later - but mark the date now. |

LSC Dues Deadline Passes - What To Do If You Missed It
Lansing Sailing Club dues and fees for 2003 were to have been paid by February 10th. Members should have recently received their annual statement along with a member profile to review and update if necessary. Any member that did not receive a statement should contact Pat Dolan so this oversight can be corrected. Members who did not make the deadline will have a short grace period to do so. Check the annual statement for instructions or contact Treasurer Bob Miller. |

Sunfish and Laser Sailors: Mark Your Calendars
Calling all Sunfish and Laser sailors. We are going to make 2003 one great season of racing. Here is what you can do right now: 1. Mark your calendars for racing every Wednesday evening beginning May 28th. Sunfish will race through September 3. Lasers will conclude one week later on September 10. 2. Put the Lake Lansing Regatta's on your schedule. The Laser Regatta will be June 14. The Sunfish Regatta will be June 21. 3. Take out (or renew) your membership in the class association. It's only $35, keeps you up to date on class activities and provides good tips from top sailors. Sunfish sailors should go to www.sunfishclass.org/ and click on "Join the Class" (lower left hand area of the home page). Laser sailors should go to www.laser.org and click on "Join the Class" (on the menu bar just under the masthead). 4. While visiting the home page of your class association, follow some links for ideas on how to improve your sailing. 5. Make a list of what you need in the way of replacement lines, hardware, etc. and order them now so you'll have them at the beginning of the season. APS,with a complete line of items, is one good source for both Sunfish and Lasers. 6. Think about a Spring Sailing School. Rick White and John Kolius run excellent schools specifically for Lasers. Rick White also runs a Sunfish school. Check out Sailing Schools under Sailing Info on the LSC Web Site for some additional ideas. |
