Siegles Need Crew Next Saturday
George and Ann Siegle are looking for a third person to go with them to sail in the North Cape Blowout Lightning Regatta next Saturday (October 12). This is a great event at a terrific venue and an opportunity to sail with two of the best sailors in the area. If you are interested, contact George Siegle by email.

Siegles Continue to Gain on Moody
The wind was blowing 20-25 from the South today (Sunday, October 6) and proved a challenge to those who showed up to race. One boat decided to return to the dock before racing started, but five other crews stuck it out.

George Siegle, sailing with Ann Siegle and Gil Chesbro claimed two first place finishes to gain on Mike Moody for the season Championship. Mike, with Stacey Kotecki and Terry Kleiman aboard, took a first and two seconds. It looks like this contest will go right down to the final race of the season.

John LeFevre, sailing Blaine Severin's boat along with Tom Rasmussen and Leif Alton, sailed solidly and took two third place finishes and a fourth.

Jim Coulter and Pat Dolan crewed for Jim Ault in the first two races. They hung on to edge out Neil Harrison and Alanna Harvey in "Fubar" in the first race. In the second race however, Neil and Alanna held off the Ault boat.

Returning to the water after a short break to sail the last race, Pat Dolan attempted to single hand his Lightning - but found the wind too much and had to retire. In this last race of the day, Jim Ault, Alanna Harvey and Jim Coulter held off a charging John LeFevre and crew at the very end to record a third place finish.

You can get the complete season results directly from the Scoring Guy or by following links after clicking "Race Results" on the LSC Web Site.

Work Party this Wednesday
Don't forget the work party this Wednesday, evening, October 9 from 6:00 to 7:30. Members whose schedule permits will be working on racks and a list of other items that need attention yet this fall before docks out. If you can participate, save time afterward to go for Spags pasta special and tall tales.

2 PM Start for Lightnings this Sunday Only
Reminder to Lightning skippers and crew: The race schedule for Sunday, October 13 will be one hour later than usual. The skipper's meeting will be at 1:30 (instead of 12:30) and racing will begin at 2:00 (instead of 1:00). This change is being made so that LSC volunteers can finish up their Race Committee work for the MSU Collegiate Cedarfest Regatta. We are back to the regular schedule for October 20 racing.

Docks Out Sunday October 27
How quickly the season has gone by. Just one more Sunday of racing and two short week of sailing before Docks Out on Sunday afternoon, October 27. We'll start at noon and go until done (about 4 PM). Members should look for their assignments via email in the next few days (snail mail for those without email).

Laser Worlds Pictures
Mike Moody puts us onto a web site with pictures from the recent Laser World championships: Editor's Note: Site is no longer available.

Louis Vuitton Cup
For those without access to the Outdoor Life Network, here is a quick update on the Lous Vuitton Cup. After four days of racing the boats are halfway through their first round robin of races. The top boats currently appear to be Alinghi, Oracle and One World. Each has won three races in convincing style. The second tier of boats seems to be Stars and Stripes, Prada, GBR Challenge and the Swedish Victory Challenge. Bringing up the rear are clearly the French Boat Le Defi Areva and the Italian Boat Mascalzone Latino.

The Outdoor Life Network has picked up its coverage significantly since the first race, but still has lots of room for improvement. For those that get this channel, it looks as if any race they can't cover in prime time because of a delay - will be shown in the midnight to 2 AM slot (and repeated at 9:30 and 1:00 the next day). For example, during prime time on Saturday night (eastern time), the race officials were in a holding pattern waiting for wind - so OLN showed a rerun of their previous evening telecast. However, as OLN's prime time coverage was ending, the race officials had started the next race - so OLN showed it at midnight.
