Front Gate Work Party September 7th
Don't forget the Front Gate Work Party this Saturday. Rear Commodore Chris Strugar-Fritsch needs assistance from 9 AM until early afternoon on Saturday, September 7th. This is a good way for members to complete their deck duty if they haven't done one yet or if they have one to make up. Members who can help should contact Chris so he can coordinate tools, etc.

Fishbeck Wins Sunfish Trophy
Holding off a final rally by Gil Chesbro, John Fishbeck has won the Sunfish Season Championship. In the final day of Sunfish racing Wednesday, September 4, Gil had three first place finishes and a second. As a result, Gil made it very close for the season championship, coming to within two points.

Holding off this last minute charge, the championship goes to John Fishbeck. In 44 races, John had 21 first place finishes and 11 second place finishes - including a key first place finish on the last night of racing.

In all, nine Sunfish sailors qualified for trophies in 2002. Here are the final season standings and point totals:
1 - John Fishbeck (243)
2 - Fil Chesbro (241)
3 - Doug Bohl (190)
4 - Dennis Dudley (134)
5 - Maribeth Fletcher (101)
6 - Dave Vietti (97)
7 - Neil Harrison (96)
8 - Sandy Bryson (83)
9 - Alanna Harvey (71)

Six other Sunfish sailors participated in 2002 racing, but did not sail enough races to qualify for trophies: Jim Fletcher, Paul Davis, Andrew Harrison, Paula White, Travis Williamson and Scott Schopieray.

Moody Shows the Laser Way
There were thirteen Lasers enjoying yet another great night of sailing yesterday (Wed, Sept 4). Leading the way was Mike Moody with two first place finishes, a second and a third. Also capturing first place finishes were George Siegle and Doug Carlson.

With one more Wednesday evening of racing to go, Doug Carlson holds first place in the season standings. You can get full details and season standings directly from the Scoring Guy or by following links after clicking "Race Results" on the LSC Web Site.

"Oh m" Gets Three Firsts
In Lightning racing last Sunday (Sept 1), Ron Marshall walked away with three first place finishes among the five boats that sailed. Crewing with Ron were Jane Marshall and Bob Hill. Also having an excellent day was Jim Ault with two second place finishes and a third. Larry Koster, sailing "Shibumi" with Jim and Maribeth Fletcher, had a second and a third place finish.

Bob Miller took the helm of "Wind Dancer" and, with the help of crew Julie Pierce and Stacey Kotecki, captured a third place finish in Race 2. The "Wind Dancer" sailors had some interesting moments. Perhaps the best example happened after just taking the lead in the first race when the spinnaker wouldn't come down. Although the crew did a very good job of trouble shooting, by the time the chute was tamed, the other boats had gone past.

Neil Harrison, with loyal crew Jim Newtown and Alanna Harvey, had fourth place finishes in each race. You can get full details and season standings directly from the Scoring Guy or by following links after clicking "Race Results" on the LSC Web Site.
