Siegle, Dolan and Marshall Win in Lightnings
For a while it didn't look as though there would be any racing yesterday (Sunday, August 25) - Lake Lansing was like a pane of glass. Then, about 1 PM, a little wind came up and stayed the rest of the afternoon. There was some very close racing with several finishes requiring the careful eye of the Race Committee to determine the order among the nine boats participating. Thanks to John Melcher, Annie Melcher and Jeff Case for their excellent Race Committee work. George Siegle, with Ann Siegle crewing, won comfortably in the first race, but "Moody's Booty", "Wind Dancer" and "Unidentified Flying Pigs" were within a boat length of each other for the next three spots. In race two, it was Pat Dolan and crew Bob Miller sailing "Wind Dancer" to a first place finish. Siegle's "Fins" was second while Larry Koster, sailing with Jim and Maribeth Fletcher coming in third. Race Three found Ron Marshall in "Oh m" winning with faithful crew Jane Marshall and Bob Hill. Pat Dolan just nipped George Siegle by about a foot for second. The LSC web site seems to be temporarily out of commission for some reason, but full details and season standings are available directly from the Scoring Guy. |

Fletcher on Hot Streak
Jim Fletcher had two first place and one second place finishes last Wednesday in Sunfish racing on Lake Lansing. The Sunfish have two more Wednesday evenings of racing in the 2002 season. It's hard to believe the end is coming so soon. Don't miss an opportunity to enjoy the terrific sailing while we still can. While the LSC website is being fixed, you can get full details and season standings directly from the Scoring Guy. |

Carlson Continues Laser Leadership
Doug Carlson has been on fire this summer, with a lot of bullets to his credit. Last Wednesday was no exception as Doug drove his Laser to three first place finishes and a third. It was another fabulous Wednesday of racing. Three more Wednesday evenings of racing are still in store for Lasers so come out and enjoy the great weather we're having. While the LSC website is being fixed, you can get full details and season standings directly from the Scoring Guy. |

America's Cup Starts October 1

Most of the syndicates have been operating in Aukland, New Zealand for some time, but things really begin to hop now with the Challenger series beginning in a little over a month. The America's Cup website is at www.americascup.com. The Challengers series, also called the "Louis Vuitton Cup", is at www.lvcup.com. The Louis Vuitton Cup will be extensively covered by the Outdoor Life Network. |
