David Nickels Wins Lightning Regatta
Lightning Boat Builder David Nickels of Fenton, Michigan won last Saturday's Lake Lansing "Tune Up" Regatta in a 13 boat fleet. However, sailing was very competitive and Nickels had to win in a tie breaker over Jeff Hagman. David had finishes of 1, 3, 4, 1 and 4 to finish with 13 points. Jeff had finishes of 4, 1, 3, 3 and 2 for 13 points. David's two 1st place finishes over Jeff's one 1st was the deciding factor. Of the five Lansing Sailing Club Lightnings, Pat Dolan's "Wind Dancer" led the way. The wind and weather cooperated nicely to make this a terrific day of sailing. Complete results and story soon at www.lansingsailing.org. |

Club Computer Up and Running Thanks to the efforts of Commodore Ann Siegle, a Club Computer is up and running. After racing, scores now can be emailed to our "Scoring Guy" (John Fishbeck), LSC's Media Liaison (Julie Pierce), the Vice-Commodore (Mike Moody) and the e-Sheet Editor (Pat Dolan). The computer is configured with an AOL account and hooked to the Clubhouse phone line. Race Committees should log in, enter the scores on the Weekly Scoring Document (a convenient shortcut is on the desktop). There is also a printer so Race Committees can log on before racing and print out weather reports, radar pictures, etc. Club documents, such as the Race Committee Checklist, are also on the Computer and can be printed. |

"Discover Sailboat Racing" Class Begins
The 2002 version of "Discover Sailboat Racing" got off to a great start last night (Monday). The six class members had about 30 minuts of "shore school" learning (or brushing up on) some basics. Then it was on the water for a little practice, some tacking drills and a couple of races. The class continues next Monday evening at 6:00 PM. |
