Work Party Changed to March 30
The pre-Dock's In work party originally scheduled for this coming Saturday has been rescheduled for Saturday, March 30 from noon to 4 pm. Projects we will work on include building dock sections, hanging new gates (if we can get gravel/grading work done), moving picnic tables and otherwise getting ready for dock's in. This is a good way for anyone needing to make up a deck duty to do so. If there is a problem with weather, Saturday, April 7 is being held as an alternate date at the same time. |

Lots of Spiffing Up Planned at LSC
Rear Commodore Chris Strugar-Fritsch reports that the graveling of the driveway at LSC has been contracted to G&F Landscaping. The work will begin once the snow and ice melts and the puddles dry up. The new gates will be installed as soon as the graveling is completed. Other projects scheduled for this Spring include replacing the sand beach where the lasers and sunfish fleets launch. A new landscaping plan is being developed to spiff up the front entrance to the club. Pre-docks-in work parties will construct two new dock sections so the main dock can be launched this year with all new or recently replaced sections (see the article above and the upcoming events area for dates and times). If you have a deck duty or docks duty to make up from last year, please contact Chris Strugar-Fritsch, phone 321-1327, so you can get on one of these work parties. |

Dolan Reports from North U
Pat Dolan reports from the Colgate Offshore Racing school that the North U Advanced Racing course began today in great weather, good wind, excellent instructors and 12 students. The first day was pretty much a shakedown sail, getting used to being on the Colgate 26's. This course runs through Friday with a regatta event on Saturday. |

Amer Too Mixes it Up in the Doldrums
Lisa McDonald and the crew of Amer Too are in the thick of the race as the Volvo Ocean 60's work their way through the Doldrums on their way from Rio De Janeiro to Miami. Lisa writes "With sunrise, the genny [genoa sail] is up and purring, the breeze steady for a short while (with a bit of drizzle like English summer) and we are holding steady with the fleet - as far as we know." About to cross the equator, the boats are getting ready to initiate those few members that haven't been across yet. For Amer Too there are only old salts onboard now - so King Neptune won't need to make an appearance on board. For more information including email, audio and video from the boats, check in at www.volvooceanrace.org or www.nautorchallenge.com. |
